Eight clubs have all but booked their tickets to the 2024 Nile Special Rugby (Men’s) Championship playoffs.
Deducing from the current standings after round nine, Heathens, Jinja Hippos, Black Pirates, Kobs, Buffaloes, Mongers, Rhinos, and Walukuba are safely out of reach of the bottom four in the twelve-team competition.
Walukuba, in eighth place, have twenty-two points while the closest team in chasing have nine points. Yet there is only a maximum of ten points available to collect from the two rounds left to play.
But this should not allow those eight clubs to rest on their laurels. The quarterfinal fixtures for the Championship playoffs will only be determined after the eleventh round on April 20. A higher position in the standings could make a significant difference in one’s fortunes in the playoffs.
Similarly, the season is not over for Eagles, Impis, Warriors, and Rams in the bottom four positions. They will battle for survival in the relegation playoffs, played alongside the championship’s.

Walukuba 24-08 Impis
Mongers 16-21 KOBs
