Playing with a second string side after 9 of their star players traveled to Kampala to join the Uganda U-17 national team (Teen Cranes), Amus College School still looked far the better side.

Bukedea Comprehensive fought gallantly in the second half and they got a penalty that was later cancelled out.

“It was a good game and test for many of our players who have not been playing regularily. We fought gallantly and won the game” Frank “Video” Anyau, Amus College head coach said after the game.

His counterpart at Bukedea Comprehensive Jimmy Mukubya hailed the fighting spirit from his players, casting the blame to the missed scoring opportunities.

“We had some chances to bury off the game that we did not utilize. There were other 50-50 opportunities that the man in charge (referee) denied us and that is all football.” Mukubya stated.

Meanwhile, Kawempe Muslim, St Noa Girls Zzana, Rines SS, Sheema Girls and Uganda Martyrs Lubaga all progressed to the quarter-finals.

Agnes Nabukenya and Hadijah Babirye were on target as Kawempe Muslim beat Nyakensenyi 2-1 at the Ndejje University playground.

On the same facility, St Noa Girls ran rout with a 4-0 win over Bunya S.S. Lethal forward Slyvia Kabene and Kaimat Naigaga each scored a brace.

Rines SS ejected Muhobe 1-0 at the Nandere playground whilst Uganda Marytrs’ Lubaga humbled Kayindu 4-1 at the Bombo UMEA playground.

Sacred Heart SS needed a 4-3 post match penalty victory to dump out Moyo Star SS after a goal-less stalemate in normal time at the Ndejje SS playground.

The quarter-finals were due to be held on Thursday, 2nd May 2024 but have since been put on hold, pending queries from organizers after some schools failed to release the summoned players for national team duty (Uganda U-17) with the FIFA World Cup qualifiers coming up soon.

Besides girl’s football, these games also have badminton, table tennis, hockey, rugby (15’s) and basketball.
