2024 USSSA Football Championships (Rwenzori Region):

Boys champions: Fort Portal Secondary School

Girls champions: Moons Vocational School

Fort Portal Secondary School managed to successfully defend the Rwenzori region football trophy at Katooke Modern SS playground in Kyenjojo district.

A comprehensive 3-1 win over Kyabenda SS gave Fort Portal SS the bragging rights in a match where Zilgar Ogwar scored a hat-trick.

Jordan Tugume got the consolation for Kyabenda Secondary School.

Tugume had given Kyabenda SS the lead inside the opening 60 seconds of the game before Ogwar leveled matters and made it 2-1 at the mandatory half way break.

Douglas Kahume, the director at Fort Portal SS was left an overwhelmed party after successfully defending their title, setting his eyes on an improved performance at the nationals.

“I thank the players and coaches for the job well done. It was collective effort and we now eye a far much improved performance at the nationals than in 2023” Kahume noted.

In girls’ football, Moons Vocational School won the title with a 2-1 result in the final over Nyakigumba Secondary School.

Prossy Kembabazi and Beatrice Kansiime netted for Moons Vocational School whilst Janet Kabugho replied for Nyakigumba S.S.

Masaka Secondary School will host boys’ football nationals while Ndejje Secondary School will entertain the schools for girls’ football.
