Event: 26th Women’s seniors handball Africa Nations Cup
Duration: 25th November – 8th December
Venue: Kinshasa city – Democratic Republic of Congo
For the first time ever, Uganda will compete at the women’s seniors handball Africa Nations Cup due in Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) at the end of November and early December 2024.
This follows a commnique by the African Handball Confederation (AHC) after a promising performance at the 13th African Games in Ghana where Uganda finished 5th.

“Uganda women national handball team qualified for the 2024 women’s seniors handball Africa Nations Cup. You must make all necessary arrangements to take part in it. This qualification is irrevocable.” AHC stated in a statement signed by Charles Omboumahou (general secretary) to the Uganda Handball Federation.
The 2024 women’s seniors handball Africa Nations Cup will be held in Kinshasa city and this shall be a qualifier to the 2025 world handball world cup.
Each of the participating countries will be expected to send a 27-man delegation to the tournament comprising of players, technical personnel and other officials.

Aziz Yakoub, the head coach for the Uganda national handball women team is overwhelmed by the qualification feat that he envisages a step in the right desired path`for the development of women handball and Ugandan handball in general.
“It has taken deliberate steps to develop handball in Uganda. Qualifying for the women’s handball Africa Nations Cup justifies the right path of development, sacrifice and planning. Women handball and handball in general for Uganda will rightly benefit” Yakoub states.
The confirmation deadline by each country is 31st May 2024 ahead of the draws on 7th September 2024.
