SC Villa 1-1 Bright Stars

SC Villa dropped vital points in the 1-1 draw with Soltilo Bright Stars and thus lost ground in the title race.

Patrick Jonah Kakande salvaged a point for the Jogoos with an equaliser in the second half cancelling out Ashraf Mulindi’s goal that had given the visitors a lead.

Following a goalless halftime score line, Mulindi broke the deadlock on the hour mark to silence the home crowd.

The lead however lasted only six minutes as Kakande combined well with Abasi Kyeyune, a second half substitute to the game level.

Despite being the better side overall, Villa couldn’t put the ball beyond Man of the Match Hassan Matovu in Bright Stars goal with the result now leaving them four points behind leaders BUL who have played one more game.

At the moment, Villa on 42 points have played 23 games, same as Vipers (45 points) while BUL (46), Kitara (44) and NEC (40) have all played 23 games.

Villa will now hope to return to winning ways when they visit struggling Gaddafi on Friday, the same day Bright Stars return to action at home to KCCA FC.
