SC Villa kept their hopes of winning the Uganda Premier League title this season alive after clinching a hard fought victory over Wakiso Giants FC on Wednesday.

In the game played at Muteesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku, the Jogoos had to come from two goals down to win 3-2.

After falling to KCCA FC last week, the League record champions needed a reaction today to keep within the title race.

The start to the game was horrible and saw them fall behind with two goals before the hour mark.

Andrew Samson Kigozi opened the scores in the 38th minute with his strike from distance beating goalkeeper Brady Wokorach.

The winger struck from distance and his low drive hit the ground first to evade Wokorach’s stretching left hand.

Seven minutes after restart, Wakiso doubled their lead through captain Hassan Ssenyondo who calmly slotted home thanks to a neat low cross from Shariph Kimbowa.

Villa reacted by making changes including bringing on Umaru Lutalo and Reagan Mpande who would both later on get onto the score sheet.

The comeback started in the 66th minute with midfielder Ronald Ssekuganda jumping high to powerfully head home from Gavin Kizito’s cross.

In the 79th minute, Villa were awarded a penalty and Lutalo comfortably tucked it home, sending goalkeeper Bashir Ssekagya the wrong way.

Five minutes from time, Mpande found the back of the net from close range to send the Villa fans into wild celebrations.

A pin point cross from Ssekiganda was controlled by Patrick Jonah Kakande who passed the ball to Mpande and the latter perfectly sealed the victory for the Jogoos.
