Mandela National stadium, Namboole 4pm

BUL and Vipers have no room error when they take each on in the first ever match at Mandela national stadium, Namboole since 2019.

The biggest stadium in the country has been closed since then and football returns on Wednesday in a fixture neither wants to drop points to keep title chances alive.

The two teams are tied on same points, 46 with Vipers in second place courtesy of a superior goal difference only two points behind table leaders Kitara who have played more games following their draw with Mbarara City.

BUL won the reverse fixture 3-2 at Kitende, only their second win over Vipers and target first ever double over the champions and are not intimidated by playing away from home.

“It is going to be a tough game since both teams want to win and enlighten chances of winning the championship,” said Alex Kitaata, BUL’s top marksman. “We have had time to train at Namboole and though it is not home, we are confident since it is a neutral ground to our opponents as well,” he added.

A win for either will take them past Kitara at the top and literally hand them favourite tag for this season’s championship.

BUL who are also still in the Stanbic Uganda Cup will look to Kitaata, Jerome Kiirya, Martin Aprem, Ismail Mugulusi and Reagan Kalyowa for goals with Ronald Otti and Walter Ochora tightening things at the back.

For Vipers, the experienced trio of Yunus Sentamu, Milton Karisa and Eric Kambale will be key along with Allan Okello and Bright Anukani in the creative roles.

The backline of Hilary Mukundane and company will have to be alert to stop the BUL attacks.
