The National Rally Championship returns this weekend with the second round heading to Kalisizo, Masaka.

Over 25 crews have been cleared to start the event on Saturday after Friday’s scrutineering that took place on Friday in Masaka.

All hopeful crews are anticipated to put up a close fight for maximum points to book seats among this year’s title contenders ahead of round three.

Following his smooth race to victory in the season opener, Jas Mangat is expected to yet again set the pace in Masaka this weekend.

On top of Mangat’s experience, his superior car (Hyundai i20 rally2) will give him an edge compared to his counterparts over the weekend.

Jonas Kansiime who finished second in Mbarara, will have to count on his strategy to stay ahead of the of his rivals who have superior cars than his.

Ponsiano Lwakataka, Masaka Rally being his ‘backyard’, will put up an exciting show to reclaim his pride as the winner of his home event

Ronald Sebuguzi in the Ford Fiesta proto will continue to search for his second victory in the proto. Sebuguzi last victory was in Kaliro Rally in 2022.

Duncan Mubiru, who will be entering his first event this year, will want to record it on a high with victory, hence putting up a fight against the rivals this weekend.

The battle for honours will go down in the Clubman Rally Championship with the class favourite Musa Ssegaabwe leading the pack of Topher Kateera, John Paul Kyebambe among others.

The event will cover seven stages covering a total competitive distance of 110.51kilometres
