For the first time in three decades, Entebbe Secondary School is set to play in the Wakiso zone Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) football tournament.
This championship kicks off on Monday, 8th April 2024 in Nadangira zone until Saturday, 13th April 2024 with 32 schools pooled in four groups (A, B, C and D).
Entebbe Secondary School, a Government funded institution that has not played at the competitive Wakiso zone level despite some years of sporting qualification will this time round compete.
This comes after making the grade among the best three schools from Entebbe Municipality.
They are pooled in group B along with London College Nansana, Kyadondo SS, St Charles Lwanga, City Land, Kawanda SS, Spire and Namboole High School.
Entebbe SS lost 4-5 in post match penalties to Kasanje SS in the Entebbe finals after a goal-less draw at the Katabi Gombolola playground.
Kasanje SS however lost their slot to Entebbe zone record champions Boston High School who filled in a petition after they had lost in the semi-finals to the same opposition.
Boston High School is in group D with the reigning national champions St Mary’s Kitende.
The other schools in group D include; Greenlight Islamic Nansana, Kasule High, God’s Care High School, St Michael International, Central College and St Mary’s Kasokoso.
Other groups:
Giants Buddo Secondary School are in group A alongside AMESCO, Kisubi Mapeera, Aiden College Ndejje, Zana Mixed, Kajjansi Progressive, St James and Kasangati High School.
Group C has Standard High School Zzana (STAHIZA), Madina Islamic Nsangi Katereke, Divine SS, Kakungulu High School, Light High School Sseguku, Kawanda SS, Answar Moslem and St Joan Secondary School.
The Wakiso Zone is envisaged as the most competitive across the USSSA national qualifiers.
Five schools will qualify for the nationals due in Masaka city at the end of April 2024.
