Uganda Premier League side Vipers SC has threatened not to turn up for the league duel against Kitara slated for Friday, April 19 at Masindi Municipality Stadium.

This development comes after the club highlighted the lack of enough security to keep their contingent safe in the highly anticipated clash.

In a letter signed by club CEO Peter Njuba, Vipers revealed that they were mistreated in the game they lost to Kitara 5-4 on penalties after a two-all stalemate in normal time.

In the letter sent to FUFA, Vipers highlighted six points why they think they are not safe ahead of the Friday’s duel.

The six outlines are as follows;

1. That the Vipers SC Team was initially denied entry into the stadium and this caused an altercation that even led to the insulting and Man handling of our officials that were seeking explanation and trying to provide solutions to the situation.

2. That during the game, Vipers SC Fans were thrown out of the VIP tribune by the Kitara FC fans and officials despite having paid entrance fees to that particular section.

3. That after the final whistle was blown, the entire Kitara FC crowd entered the pitch area with our players and officials still present hence beating and harming them. Despite witnessing all those nasty incidents that took place, the day’s security only focused on protecting match officials and ignored our players and officials.

4. That the visible count of deployed security personnel yielded only four police officers for such an enormous crowd.

5. That as per standard stadium and event management guidelines for football matches there ought to have been physical Separation of the Home and away Fans which was not evident.

6. However, it is disturbing that in the wake of such incidents, Verbal promises were heard from both the fans and officials of Kitara FC that Vipers SC should expect more atrocities in the upcoming Uganda premier League fixture on 19/04/2024.

Vipers lie third on the log with 42 points and a win on Friday will guide them beyond Kitara onto the summit.
