Only two spots – one for the women and another for the men – in the Olympic Games Paris 2024 Rugby Sevens remain unclaimed.

The teams which will take up these respective spots will be determined at the World Rugby Sevens Repechage to be played at the Stade Louis II in Monaco from June 21-23, 2024.

Pools for this tournament were drawn on Saturday, April 20, and this is what they look like:

In the women’s competition, Uganda is in Pool B with Hong Kong China, Paraguay, and Jamaica. Apart from Jamaica, these are familiar opponents from the still-ongoing 2024 7s Challenger Series.

Fellow Africans Kenya, alongside whom Uganda qualified for this Repechage, are in Pool A.

Pool B: Uganda, Hong Kong China, Paraguay, Jamaica.

Pool C: China, Poland, Czechia, Mexico.

Uganda is also in Pool B in the men’s competition. They have Great Britain, Canada, and China for company. Great Britain and Canada compete in the SVNS Series while China are in the Asia Rugby Sevens Series.

South Africa, who shockingly lost the Africa Sevens final to Kenya in September last year, are the other African team in the competition.

Men’s Pools:

Pool A: South Africa, Chile, Tonga, Mexico.

Pool B: Great Britain, Canada, Uganda, China.

Pool C: Spain, Hong Kong China, Papua New Guinea, Brazil.

Uganda’s men’s and women’s national teams have one more round in the 7s Challenger Series on May 18-19 in Munich, Germany and Krakow, Poland respectively before shifting focus to the Repechage.
