Vipers SC 1-1 Maroons

Vipers missed an opportunity to open a two points gap at the top of the table after a frustrating 1-1 draw at home against Maroons.

Darius Ojok deflected shot cancelled out Milton Karisa goal in the second half after a goalless first half.

The hosts started well with Maroons soaking the pressure but the contest later became even with the visitors thrice testing Alfred Mudekereza from long range.

Seven minutes into the second half, Richard Wasswa called three changes with Karisa, Patrick Mbowa and Salem Ekbad taking over from Bright Anukani, Moses Waiswa and Karim Watambala.

The move paid immediate dividends with Karisa tapping home with his first touch off a flick by Yunus.

But the lead lasted ten minutes as a mistake from Rogers Torach resulted into Ojok levelling matters.

Either team then created chances to win the game with the best falling to Fred Amaku who sent his effort agonisingly over the bar after another Torach mistake.

One-all it ended with the Venoms dropping crucial points in the title race but moved top on goal difference as they do have same points as BUL, 46 after same number of matches – 24.

Maroons overtake KCCA in 6th place with 39 points but have played two more games.
