After weeks of speculation about the future of Livingstone Mbabazi as head coach at Vipers SC, the club has issued a statement in that regard.

The Venoms have on Monday confirmed parting ways with Mbabazi, just three months after his appointment.

“We announce today that the decision has been taken to part company with our head coach Livingstone Mbabazi. We thank Mbabazi for his contribution and wish him well for the future.” Confirmed the club statement.

Since his arrival, Mbabazi has not had a smooth stay at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende. The inconsistency in results led to unrest and he was at one time suspended.

Upon his return from suspension, Vipers SC lost to KCCA FC at home and this made the situation worse.

The last two league games (URA FC and UPDF FC), Mbabazi has not been on the touchline. The club did not come out to explain itself on the matter thus leaving room for speculation.

Over the weekend, the addition of Fred Muhumuza on the technical bench raised more questions. The club did not officially announce his arrival until Sunday and still there was no explanation about Mbabazi’s future.

Media reports have been linking Mbabazi to Gadaffi FC with some outlets confirming he has agreed terms with the Jinja based club.

Vipers Sc have confirmed Richard Wasswa will take the team as Acting Head Coach for the remainder of the season, alongside Jose Esdras Costa Lopez, Fred Muhumuza, Richard Kasule Bakabulindi & Ali Kimera (goalkeeping coach) as assistants.

The search for a new head coach next season (2024/25) is underway and we will make a further announcement when that process is complete.
