Kitara 0-2 Vipers

Vipers dislodged Kitara from the top of the table after handing them a 2-0 defeat at their own back yard in Masindi on Friday.

An own goal from Donato Okello and a second from Abubaker Lawal sealed the win for the champions who now move to 45 points, one ahead of Kitara and have a game in hand.

Kitara started well with Kabon Living causing problems but against a run of play, Vipers broke the deadlock when Yunus Sentamu forced an error from the onrushing Okello who put the ball in his own net in the 12th minute.

From then on, it was control from the visitors and took a first half lead into the dressing rooms.

Richard Wasswa made an immediate change with experienced Siraje Sentamu replacing Frank Katongole whose rushed decisions nearly cost his side.

The second half was scrappy and had moments of ugly scenes with players involved in a physical scuffle with Maxwell Owachigiu and Hilary Mukundane at the centre of it.

Referee Mashood Ssali managed the moment well booking only one player in Hamim Ssemakula and play resumed.

The introduction of Frank Tumwesigye Zaga and Brian Aheebwa for Paul Mucureezi and Ramadhan Dudu swung the game back in Kitara control.

Aheebwa came close to levelling the game but saw his effort hit the cross bar and then cleared by Mukundane.

Wasswa’s introduction of Eric Kambale, Lawal and Karim Watambala sealed the win as the trio combined to get the second goal scored by the Nigerian in the 86th minute, ten after coming on.

It was game over for the Royals who now drop to second position with 44 points and winless in three matches in a row now.

They will look to make amends on April 24 when they visit seven time champions Express while Vipers will hope to stretch their advantage when they host Maroons a day earlier.
