Vivo Energy the distributors of shell fuel and lubricant products in Uganda have committed their relationship with the motorsport governing body FMU by injecting Shs.300 million shillings into the Pearl of Uganda rally.

The opening round of the African Rally championship will yet again run under the Shell V-Power brand name. 

The Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally revs off on 10-12 May in parts of Jinja in Eastern Uganda.

Vivo Energy Uganda managing Director Johan Grobbelaar is delighted to continue with the Pearl rally sponsorship.

Our long-standing partnership with the Federation of Motorsport Uganda reflects our unwavering commitment to the motorsport community in Uganda. Through this sponsorship, we aim to support the dreams and aspirations of rally drivers and enthusiasts across the country,” said Grobbelaar.

Newly elected President, Hon. Jimmy Akena commended Vivo Energy for their continued dedication towards the regional event.

“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Vivo Energy Uganda for the Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Uganda Rally. Their unmatched support has been instrumental in the growth and success of motorsport in Uganda,” said Akena.

Vivo Energy has also continued to extend its support to rally crews including Ronald Sebuguzi with an addition of seasoned driver Jas Mangat to their list.

Over 30 crews have confirmed participation in the prestigious event. Only two foreign crews from Kenya; Karan Patel and Hamza Anwar will participate.

The rally starts on Friday with a qualifying stage for the ARC crews. 

The rally then starts proper on Saturday with seven stages and three stages on Sunday. The event will run on a total competitive distance of 209.45 kilometers.
