The Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) hosted the qualifiers for the 2024 Africa Cup at the Lugogo NCS Indoor Arena in Kampala on Saturday, 13th April.

Four players successfully qualified for the upcoming Africa Cup that is due in Rwanda’s capital city of Kigali (12th to 16th May 2024).

Samuel Ankunda Mbabazi, Jonathan Senyonga, Patience Anyango and Parvin Nangonzi made the grade.

Mbabazi and Senyonga were flawless as they scored 17 points apiece. Joseph Sebatindira had 16 points whilst Sharif Nsereko scored 15 points.

Anyango had a great day at office with 14 points to her total tally.

Nangonzi scored 13 points for second place with Patra Nasirumbi (11) and Jemimah Nakawala (8) following suit.

Uganda Table Tennis Association (UTTA) president Robert Jjagwe saluted the level of healthy competition and transparent championship.

“We had a good qualification tournament with the outstanding players gracing it. The level of organization was top notch with healthy competition, very fair and transparent. The best players were purely on merit” Jjagwe stated.

A total of sixteen players (nine boys and seven girls) competed in the grueling games played on best of three format.
