Final: St Julian High School Mukono 1-0 Quality High School, Buwundo -Buikwe

Third-Place: Mukono Kings S.S 2-1 Vision For Africa S.S

St Julian High School Mukono qualified to the 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) football finals due in Masaka at the end of April.

This is the first time that St Julian High School Mukono will play at the nationals.

They overcame Quality High School Buwundo – Buikwe 1-0 during the well contested finale played at the Allied Teacher’s Secondary School playground in Nyenga, Buikwe district.

Jahid Mwondha scored with a glancing header off an inviting long throw-in by Lucky Andebo in the second stanza of the game.

Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza, head coach for St Julian High School Mukono attributed the victory to great preparations and teamwork element.

“I congragulate the team (St Julian High School, Mukono) for the achievement. We planned well prior to the tournaments at the district and regional levels. The preparations were spot-on and we unified in every effort” Ssekabuuza, a CAF “B” certified coach stated.

Ssekabuuza was working with Michael Kabali, Louis “Figo” Kizito, Jamadah Magaasi (goalkeeping coach) and Swaibu Mbuga (team manager), among others.

At the semi-final level, St Julian High School Mukono overcame Mukono Kings 1-0 with James Ssekate scoring the solitary strike having condemned Mehta SS 3-1 at the quarter final level.

Simeon Ssevume, Frank Ssekanjako and James Ssekate scored for St Julian High School Mukono with Zufaru Mbalangu netting Mehta SS’s consolation.

The third place play-off was won by Mukono Kings who edged Vision For Africa 2-1 at the Nyenga Community playground.

The winners got gold medals and trophy with Quality High School taking silver Medals and Mukono Kings for bronze.

The three top schools; St Julian High School Mukono, Quality High School Buwundo, Buikwe and Mukono Kings will represent Greater Mukono region at the nationals in Masaka.

Quality SS 0 (6) – 0 (5) Vision For Africa

Quarter-finals:

Quality High School Buikwe 0 (6) – 0 (7) Namagabi (*Namagabi SS was disallowed for using a player above 20 years)
