2024 Bika Football Championship:
Obutiko 3-2 Mmamba Namakaka (Gabunga)
Obutiko clan (Mushroom) overcame Mmamba Namakaka (Lung Fish) 3-2 in the official opening football match of the 2024 Bika football championship at Mutesa II Wankulukuku Stadium on Saturday, 28th April.
The victors scored through Edrine Kagende, Stephen Namuwanda and Richard Wandyaka past goalkeeper Jerome Nsubuga.
Second half subsistute John Wesley Kisakye got the two consolation goals for Mmamba Namakaka (Gabunga).
I am excited for the performance and result that we have got over Mmamba Namakaka. It is good to start on a winning note. I hope the injured players will swiftly recover.

The match was graced by a relatively fair crowd with the Katikiro Charles Peter Mayiga also in attendence.
The two clans will face off during a return leg duel on a date yet to confirmed.
Meanwhile, Nnyonyi Nyange won the netball shield with a 21-18 victory over Mmamba Namakaka.
Nnyonyi Nyange won a shield with gold medals and cash prize worth Ug.Shs 7,000,000.
The runners up (Mmamba Namakaka) took silver medals and cash worth Ug.Shs 5,000,000.
Ngeye finished third after a 35-25 win against Njovu. Ngeye, last year’s netball winners were rewarded with bronze medals and Ug.shs 3,000,000 whilst Njovu pocketed Ug.Shs 2,000,000.
Njovu’s Shadia Nassanga was top scorer with 168 goals, taking an accolade and Ug.shs 300,000.
Joan Nantongo (Nnyonyi Nyange) was the tournament most valuable player, earning an accolade and Ug.Shs 300,000.
The Bika tournament has been in existance since 1950 and it only accomodates Baganda tribe players.
