There is a new champion in St Julian High School Seeta for the Uganda Secondary Schools Sports Association (USSSA) boy’s football tournament.

The victors comprehensively defeated a 10-man Amus College School 3-0 in a one-sided final played at the Masaka Secondary School playground on Sunday, 5th May 2024.

A first half brace from James Ssekate and a second half penalty by Simon Wanyama secured victory for Felix Kawooya Ssekabuuza’s coached charges.

St Julian High School Seeta commanded the game by the quarter hour mark through Ssekate’s well pounced rebound off the goalkeeper Ben Sinalya.

Four minutes later, Ssekate poked the ball into the roof of the net with the defence napping to establish a 2-0 lead by the half time break.

As the second half resumed, Amus College School squandered two goal scoring moments through Devis Busuulwa before St Julian High School killed off the game with Wanyama’s penalty.

The penalty was awarded by referee Joseph Masembe after Amus College captain Toto Majub deliberately stopped a goal bound shot with his hands.

For the rest of the game, Amus College played with ten men who could hardly mark any impact.
